Antique Italian Classic Venus de Milo Sculpture from Lake Como

A classic Roman statuary version of Venus, Goddess of Love & Victory. Composed of "grisaglia," the local handcrafted white stone cement mixture, impregnated with lichen & moss from aging.

Measures: 27" height, 7.5" width, 7.5" depth

The original ancient Greek marble sculpture was created approximately 100 BC, believed to depict the goddess Aphrodite. Larger than life size at 6 ft 8 inches in height, the original is currently on permanent display at the Louvre Museum in Paris, attributed to Alexandros of Antioch, and is named after Aphrodite's Roman name, Venus and the Greek island of Milos, where it was discovered in 1820.
