Italian Antique Cast Stone of Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Caracalla Bust

Late 19th century carved stone bust of Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (born Lucius Septimius Bassianus, 4 April 188 – 8 April 217), better known by his nickname Caracalla was Roman emperor from 198 to 217 AD. He was a member of the Severan dynasty, the elder son of Emperor Septimius Severus and Empress Julia Domna.

Made of "Grisaglia' in Italian, a mix of stone powder and lime stones The handsome figure in Greco-Roman attire with toga draped across the chest and a cartiglio on his shoulder.

This bust features a wonderful patina with a slight growth of moss throughout the piece.
