17th Century Baroque Italian Carved Chestnut Leggio Music Desk or Lectern Table

Unique 17th Century Renaissance style chestnut leggio bookrest suitable as a reading, music desk or presentation lectern, as it is married with and permanently mounted to the 19th Century chestnut table base with similarly carved drawer, turned legs and crosspieces. The year "1662" is carved amidst a floral garland into the lower drop lid. Decorative engravings run the perimeter of both sides of the leggio. Top and lower hinged lids open to reveal the interior desk area containing 4 drawers beneath a shelf. Forged iron hinges and hardware. Circa 1662.

Measures: 26" width, 18.75" depth, 39.75" height (top lid slopes to 35" height)

Desk measures: Exterior with the lids closed - angled useable surface 26"W x 11.5"H, top flat surface 26"W x 5.75"D; Interior with the lids opened - desk surface 23.5"W x 23"D at a height from floor of 28.5" (opened full depth from wall is 23.75”); Interior shelf 23.5"W x 5.75"D above 4 small drawers
