Decorative bronze twin mermaid sculptures, "Sea Maidens," permanently affixed to two opposing sides of the octagonal Baccarat crystal vessel, are the artistic collaboration with 20th century French Art Deco designer Romain de Tirtoff (born St. Petersburg, Russia 1892 - died Paris, France 1990; pseudonym "Erte"; featured by Harper's Bazaar, Ziegfeld Follies, Folies Bergere, Broadway Theatre, MGM, William R. Hearst; with works of art installed at Victoria and Albert Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum 1999 Tokyo).

PLEASE NOTE: Vase is FRAGILE heavy crystal and may not be lifted nor held by the attached bronze mermaid sculptures. Lift or hold vase with soft fabric gloves on glass base only, to avoid damage and fingerprints. Never lift nor hold the vase by the bronze! The bronze mermaid sculptures are decorative only, and were not designed and therefore ARE NOT INTENDED to be used as handles to support the weight of the vase. Baccarat and publisher warned that the vase will break if these instructions are not followed.
